MY STORY

I've been coaching in some form or another for over 20 years. As a person in long-term recovery since 1997, I've mentored many others in recovery and guided those who were questioning their drinking but unsure about whether or not they needed to or even wanted to quit drinking. I've always believed in letting people find their own answers by simply asking the right questions and showing them that now matter what's going on in their lives that they have strength, wisdom, resiliency, and worth.

I've also coached people over the years in health and fitness. Having run several marathons in the late 90's and early 2000's, I began helping people go from a sedentary lifestyle to running. This work was about more than form, speed, pacing, mileage, and nutrition, it was also about championing and supporting people as they stretched themselves to do something they never thought they could do like run a marathon or a 10k. I loved it! Encouraging others felt natural, fun, and fulfilling.

In 2004 I found yoga and became obsessed. I got certified as a yoga instructor in 2006 and I've been practicing and teaching (off and on) ever since.

In 2013 I was introduced to kettlebells and went through intensive training as a kettlebell instructor with a global strength company called StrongFirst.

In 2018, I became certified in CrossFit and in 2020 I got certified as a personal trainer thorugh NASM.

All the while, I was working full-time and coaching "on the side." Finally, In 2020, I quit my full-time job and started Hurley Health to support people oversome substance use challenges through fitness, coaching, and nutrition.

Then, in 2021, I was introduced to Co-Active Training Institute (CTI) and my world was blown open (in a good way!). I thought I knew coaching, but the coaching training and skills I've learned through CTI have made me a much better fitness coach and recovery coach and have expanded my ability to coach people on any topic in any area of life.

Today, I offer four types of coaching (life, fitness, career, and recovery) and if you were to ask me which one is my favorite I couldn't answer you--I love them all!
